WELCOME!

For more than fifty years, the Chesterton Choral Music Program has been a fixture in the musical life of students and the Duneland community.  During that time, more than a thousand singers have been a part of these choral groups, and we’ve developed a tradition of excellence which has become noted in our region and beyond.

Our program is noted for its unique musical opportunities, including performing at Six Flags Music in the Parks, the Chesterton High School Madrigal Dinner, and being the home of Northwest Indiana’s only competitive high school show choirs, the Drifters and Sandpipers.  Excellence in traditional and commercial choral music have been hallmarks of our program since its inception.  These traditions have been established through the hard work and dedication of four decades of student members, and are carried on by the current CMS & CHS choral groups.

Our Philosophy

We believe that challenging our student members to give their best each day, while continually improving and enhancing their skills, facilitates the development of personal qualities which will help them achieve long-term success both within the realm of music and also in the greater world around them.

A student’s involvement in a musical ensemble provides the perfect vehicle for the development of:

In turn, the development of these characteristics leads to:

We are proud to provide the opportunity for each student in our program to learn skills in singing, musicianship, and music literacy in our choirs.

In addition, the CMS & CHS Choral Music Programs provide the Duneland community with strong musical performances throughout the year which enrich the artistic lives of area residents, and offers supporters the opportunity to be a part of this dynamic program by supporting its events and performances each year.
